Volkswagen Pedestrian Detection Monitoring

One of the most impressive safety features to come out recently in the automotive world is pedestrian detection monitoring.  In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, this is a truly helpful feature for any driver.  The pedestrian detection feature is a part of the Front Assist system.  It is a small radar fitted to the front of your Volkswagen behind the VW emblem.  The radar can efficiently work in both daylight and darkness.  It sweeps an area of 35 degrees and up to 400 feet constantly.  The collected data is then put through the system to analyze for a potential pedestrian in the vehicle’s path.  If you are moving between 4 and 18 miles per hour, the system will automatically apply pressure to the brakes if a pedestrian is detected; between 18 and 40 miles per hour, you will be alerted via audio and visual alerts and if no action is taken, the brakes will be applied.   Above 40 mph this system does not operate.

The pedestrian monitoring feature is available on all 2019 Volkswagen models except the Beetle, Jetta, and Passat.  It is actually standard on the VW Arteon, Atlas, Golf, Golf R, and Golf AlltrackHere at Thelen Volkswagen in Bay City, Michigan we have a large variety of each of the Volkswagen vehicles available for you to take a test drive and see just why this is the best purchase for you!   Let our friendly VW experts show you this impressive driver-assistance feature and the many more that will create a more enjoyable driving experience for you.
