Base Tiguan models are FWD standard but have AWD available for greater maneuverability on whatever roads the driver travels. Some minor redesigns on the 2021 Tiguan allow it to be slightly more fuel-efficient in the city, with an estimated 23 MPG as opposed to the 2020’s 22 MPG estimate.

The exterior of the 2021 Tiguan now showcases 17-inch wheels on the base and SE trims for a new, even more stylish visage for the SUV. As far as the interior goes, the deluxe SEL Premium R-Line trim of the 2021 Tiguan gains powered functionality for the front passenger seat. Standard interior technology that both model years share includes a useful Wi-Fi® hotspot and the Car-Net infotainment system. This system gives easy access to great media options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for media content that is personalized for any driver.

Safety Features

In the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan, the mid-range SE trim gains Adaptive Cruise Control as a standard feature. Otherwise, both the 2020 and 2021 models of the VW Tiguan have similar packages of innovative and reliable safety technology. Drivers will appreciate the standard Automated Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Monitoring systems found in all trims of the Tiguan. Another useful standard safety feature in both model years is the Forward Collision Warning that works in tandem with the Automated Emergency Braking system for a significant reduction in potential frontal collisions.
