- Reduce fatigue on the road – IQ.DRIVE technology will help you retain focus and make highway driving more comfortable. Travel Assist uses a camera and sensors to keep you centered in your traffic lane when activated. It also helps maintain a safe preset distance between you and the car ahead of you. This semi-autonomous driver-assistance system can only be activated if it senses that both of your hands are safely on the steering wheel. Not currently using Travel Assist? IQ.DRIVE is still capable of intervening when an unintentional lane change is detected while traveling over 37 MPH and lane markings are present.
- Safely change lanes – The innovative IQ.DRIVE system can alert you to vehicles in your blind spot when changing lanes. Within limits, it also can counter-steer if you continue the lane change after receiving the alert.
- Avoid potential forward collisions – IQ.DRIVE’s camera and sensors monitor traffic and can alert you to a potential collision in front of you. If your response to the alert is delayed, this innovative system can increase brake pressure or automatically apply braking. Autonomous braking can also be applied if a pedestrian is detected crossing in front of your Volkswagen.
- Back safely out of a driveway or parking space – While in reverse, IQ.DRIVE’s sensors will alert you to vehicles crossing behind you, and even apply braking if needed.
- Safely stop your vehicle in case of an emergency behind the wheel – If your hands are not detected on the steering wheel, a series of alerts will be deployed by the IQ.DRIVE system. If you do not respond to any of these alerts by placing your hands on the steering wheel, the system can bring the vehicle to a controlled stop until help can arrive.
